Research Interests

Dr. Der-Lii Tzou’s current research focuses on vaccinia viral envelope protein-protein and protein-glycosaminoglycan (GAG) interactions. Research topics include the self-assembly formation and structural and functional relationship of vaccinia viral proteins. Using solution NMR and CD, we were able to study the molecular structure of viral proteins. Binding affinities of the specific GAG-protein interaction were determined by SPR. It is aimed for better understanding the viral entry mechanism of vaccinia virus to normal cell. On the other hand, solid-state NMR research was carried out including studies of double cross-polarization triple-resonance experiment. In addition, solid-state NMR was employed to analyze multiple conformations in steroid compounds.
